Friends of Alaska CASA support for CASA volunteers falls primarily into two categories: 1) providing help for volunteers in their contacts with the children for whom they advocate, and 2) providing assistance to volunteers for continuing education. Gift cards are available through your local program coordinator for use in your activities with your children. In addition, keep on the look out for training and education opportunities such as the bi-annual state-wide CASA/GAL Conference. Training and travel scholarships are available.
New in 2020! To best support CASAs in their tremendous work with children and youth in care, FAC has established funding to directly support CASA needs such as reimbursement for travel to attend final adoptions/relative placements/alternative care placements and other out-of-pocket CASA expenses that directly support advocacy of CASA represented child(ren). Direct support requests may be made by CASAs and may also be requested by GALs and CASA Program Coordinators on a CASA’s behalf, with the CASA’s consent.
