A 5th grade girl was on my CASA caseload, along with her older and younger siblings. Her wish was to take piano lessons, at least for the summer, so she’d have some music knowledge and skill before participating in 6th grade band or orchestra. Her foster parents were willing to drive her to the lessons, but couldn’t afford to pay for them. I found a piano studio in Anchorage that was willing to take her for just the summer. Friends of Alaska CASA paid for her lessons, giving her a great start towards a future in playing the viola. Thank you!
Thanks to Friends of Alaska CASA for your generosity in helping me with mini grants for my kids. I am so grateful that you and the others are available to help when we have special needs that OCS and other sources can’t fill for our foster youth. We so appreciated the help in getting what this child needed. This resource is invaluable to the foster youth we represent and we so appreciate you. Thank you so much.

My CASA child has received three Friends of Alaska CASA grants. Most recently was a grant to support her entrance into BMX biking. Like most hobbies, BMX biking is expensive – specialized bikes and safety riding gear being the lion’s share of the expense. FAC’s grant application, quick response, and enthusiasm for supporting CINAs made the whole experience outstanding. I have linked my Amazon Smile purchases to their non-profit benefit because clearly the money is getting out to the children. Thank you FAC!
